Job Description:Currently, Thomson Reuters are seeking for qualified candidates to join their Dublin team in the position of Editor - Dublin Ireland. This opportunity is a Full Time, Contract position to be based in Dublin, Ireland.
Responsibilities:Editorial responsibility for a wide range of legal journals, books, looseleafs, CDs and online publications; to edit publications according to the procedures and standards required by the company; to assist the Editorial Manager in the planning of and strict adherence to schedules and to work to ensure that all publications are published according to plan and within budget; and to liaise with the Production Manager on production issues relating to each assigned title.
Candidate Requirements:The ideal candidate should fulfill the following requirements:At least 8 years of working experience in a related field. Possess a Phd and above from a recognized institution. Fluency in English will be essential. · To edit all forms of Thomson Round Hall publications as they may be allocated, including book, journal, looseleaf, CD and online formats · Authors and editors: to liaise with authors, editors and contributors so as to ensure that both their needs and the requirements of the company are met · Production: responsibility for management of typesetters and typesetting on allocated titles · To achieve the required standards of quality, time control and cost · Quality: To maintain good standards in mark up and corrections for both own and freelanced work · Time: To provide the earliest possible warning of schedule slippage to the Editorial Manager and to work with freelancers, authors and Production to recover lost time and prevent further slippage as far as possible · Cost: To understand and achieve budgeted controllable cost variances, particularly on looseleaf and periodical titles. To deal proactively with potential cost variances caused outside the Editorial Department · To edit all forms of Thomson Round Hall publications as they may be allocated, including book, journal, looseleaf, CD and online formats · To assist the Editorial Manager in maintaining high standards for all Thomson Round Hall publications · To have a full understanding of legal and technical editing procedures · To become proficient in the use of computer software (including pagemaker) required in-house for the publication of these periodicals and to maintain their ongoing publication · To assist the Editorial Manager in maintaining editorial files and records, and administering authors' and contributors' fees, presentation copies, etc · To take an active role in team and/or departmental projects as appropriate Thomson Reuters employees take pride in providing our customers around the world with information that is timely, accurate, unbiased and trusted.
