Description
Position Overview:
Thomson Reuters is looking for experienced and talented journalists to join a new editing desk based in Sydney. As part of a global editing network, the sub-editors will handle stories from the Americas, Australia and Asia, working with reporters to produce a compelling file across all asset classes by crafting punchy leads and headlines and adding essential context quickly and smoothly.
Essential Responsibilities:
The sub-editors will be part of a global team that ensures the quality of the Reuters file. Potential stories could range from earnings reports of major U.S. corporates, global market moves, Australian monetary policy to diplomatic disputes in Asia. The editors will ensure the stories are concise, well written and have the global context that customers need for their business decisions. The desk will be part of a broader Asian editing operation, and so editors will work closely with counterparts in Singapore as well as with reporters from around the world.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
At least seven years experience as a journalist, preferably with some sub-editing experience - Knowledge of and interest in global markets and politics - Ability to work remotely with reporters and editors in another country to shape a story - Strong big-picture writing skills to ensure stories have key context for readers - Ability to edit and move breaking news copy quickly - A multimedia mindset to help improve the quality and depth of the file
Desired Skills and Experience:
The role is based in Sydney, however no relocation will be considered. For the right candidate Singapore may be considered as a possible location.
