Description
Position Overview:
IFR Markets, a leading real-time financial news and commentary service and part of Thomson Reuters, is seeking a financial markets economist to join its Asian FX team based in Sydney.
Essential Responsibilities:
The role requires someone who has the drive to succeed in a high-performing team and a pressured environment. He/she will write commentary on economic developments around Asia, specifically commentaries before and after the release of key economic data. The role requires someone who can:
1) Write in a clear and concise manner that is both informative and easily interpreted 2) Cover economic developments in countries in the Asia/Pacific region with the ability to analyze and forecast economic data from the key economies in the region. 3) Ensure that economic calendars are updated in a timely manner and provide timely commentary both prior to - and following key data releases. 4) Communicate with IFR clients in a professional manner 5) Work closely with IFR market analysts in the region and coordinate efforts with IFR economists and analysts globally 6) Be able to provide and/or source economic and market research relevant to all asset markets.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Economics (or a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce with a major in Economics). The candidate should have at least two years experience in the financial markets or working for a news service that covers financial markets.
