NTS division had been a long-established professional research firm in the Intellectual Property area to assist governmental bodies and industrial companies in research and development for 41 years before the integration. NTS had been linked to overseas agents in more than 120 countries and provided services to resolve problems in patent matters worldwide including Japan.
Thomson Reuters has taken over Intellectual Property solution business from NTS and will continue to provide clients across the world with high-quality IP services.
Position Overview
The primary role of the Sales Manager, Intellectual Property (IP) Service Japan/NTS is to achieve and exceed assigned sales targets and objectives by developing customer relationships and selling IP service of Thomson Reuters to both assigned accounts and new accounts in Japan. These accounts are mainly comprised of manufacturing companies and research firms. Sales targets will be achieved through new business development and up-sell of existing accounts, presenting the values of the solutions, creating leads and closing deals. IP service portfolio includes a mix of IP research (Invalidity, Freedom To Operate & etc.), IP analysis and IP consulting (licensing support, consulting & etc.).
Essential Day-to-Day work
u Achieve/exceed IP Service revenue plan in Japan
u Pursue net new business through account management and development.
u Sell new service to both existing and new customers through new business development, marketing campaigns, and cold calling.
u Communicate with customers or potential customers on values of Thomson Reuters' service and solutions, creating leads and closing deals.
u Develop new customers through hands-on sales activities in addition to supporting product sales and account management team
u Keep maintain opportunity pipeline with timely update and accuracy
u Act as a sales hub to maximize service business opportunities globally by collaborating global sales team effectively.
u Work with both product sales groups and internal support groups to ensure a coordinated and effective sales effort.
u Look for market opportunities that align strategically with company direction.
u Assist and work at trade shows when required.
u Professionally represent the company at all times.
u Closely communicate with the Director of IP service Japan to accelerate business growth.
Qualifications
u Minimum 3 years sales experience and/or industry experience is a must.
u Abilities to build and deliver the annual revenue for the assigned territory.
u Abilities to build and execute sales strategy in order to grow business for mid-to-long term in addition to achieving the annual revenue target.
u Must be client focused and have the ability to drive internal and external requirements throughout the sales cycle.
u Communication skills both in Japanese (native level) and in English (business level) are required.
u Solution or consultative selling skill is a must.
u Interest in Intellectual Property.
u Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills
u Commercial acumen, with a proactive and creative approach to looking after the needs and concerns of customers.
u Knowledge and understanding of the information industry and the behaviors and requirements of Thomson Reuters customers, particularly in the field of Intellectual property.
u Good coordination skills is a must; e.g. the ability to deal with a variety of internal groups.
u Good team player / self starter with the ability to work using own initiative.
u Consulting or Service selling experience will be an advantage.
u Consulting background is desired.
u Intellectual property background is desired.
u Any technology background (e.g. degree in engineering & work experience in technology segment) is desired.
u Good track records as a sales person is desired.
u Self-driven, independent and hands-on
u Honest, frank and open minded personality
u Visible "can do" approach to work and positive attitude
