The Triplicate in Crescent City is looking for a reporter to join its small but vibrant news team. We're a 6,000-circulation newspaper that emphasizes crisp writing, smart reporting, innovative local coverage, teamwork and a nice mix of stories. We just swept first and second places statewide in the breaking news coverage category of the California Newspaper Publishers Association annual Better Newspapers Contest.

 

We publish Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, which often means weekends off.

 

The pay is what you'd expect for a paper our size, but Del Norte County may be the most economical coastal area for housing costs in the West. Our beats are fluctuating, and there's plenty of great stories to go around.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: KGO-TV/ABC7 News, the ABC Owned Television station in San Francisco has an immediate opening for Morning News Executive Producer. The Executive Producer will oversee all aspects of ABC7 News Morning newscasts from 4:30-7:00 am, Good Morning America news updates and ABC7 News Midday at 11 am. The Executive Producer will also manage all the overnight/morning resources including anchors, reporters, photographers, writers, assignment editor, production assistants and technical crew.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
KGO-TV/ABC7 in San Francisco is looking for a freelance Web Producer/Writer to join our tech-savvy team of online journalists.
Strong writing and editorial skills and the ability to multitask in a high pressure environment are a must. Thorough knowledge and
prior experience using major social media platforms to report news are also required. The Web Producer/Writer is responsible for
publishing daily news and breaking news content to the station’s digital platforms, as well as producing and editing video content.
Other production duties include tagging content for the website, moderating forums, producing and deploying multiple email
newsletters as well as managing a user-generated content site.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Two plus (2+) years experience working in an online news organization.
(2) Must have excellent computer skills and experience with all of the following: content management systems; Fireworks or
Photoshop; Final Cut Pro and basic HTML tags.
(3) Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style. All applicants will be given timed writing tests which include story, headline
and social media writing tests.
(4) Must have a Bachelor’s degree in media-related field and preferably experience working in a high-paced, deadline driven
television newsroom.
(5) Candidates must clear a background check.
